The Opposition

"Crisply filmed and ominously scored, Fifer’s movie is studded with dramatic moments, including a shocking betrayal by a resistance ally, and underwritten with a terse sense of outrage that so many issue documentaries attempt but rarely achieve with such devastating effect."

THE OPPOSITION delves deep into the David-and-Goliath battle over a slice of Papua New Guinean paradise.

The Opposition asks how we can ethically build sustainable business in developing countries. The story is told through Joe Moses, leader of the Paga Hill settlement, who must save his 3,000 people before they are evicted. Battling it out in the courts, Joe may find his community replaced with a five star hotel and marina.

The Paga Hill Community's story is an all too common one. Forced evictions and land grabs are happening at rapid speed all over PNG. Please support local PNG organisation ACT NOW!'s petition to return Indigenous land stolen through the abuse of Special Business Agricultural Leases (SABLs).
